Intel is revving up the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) industry, and Intel® Atom™ processors are powering the move forward. With companies such as BMW Group and Wind River, Intel will drive an open, standards-based hardware and software architecture, called Open Infotainment Platforms (OIPs) to allow manufacturers to reduce product development times for seamless integration of in-car technology. For the developers, Moblin.org added an IVI community so that application reach can be extended to the automotive marketplace. Intel Capital, Intel's global investment arm is investing approximately US$15 million in Green Packet Berhad to kick-start Malaysia's first mobile WiMAX network.
