At CTIA today in Las Vegas, Samsung announced the Samsung Mondi*, the first handheld WiMAX device in the U.S. Operating on Clearwire's Clear WiMAX mobile service and dubbed the "Broadband Mobile Entertainer," the Mondi has a 4.3" touchscreen, integrated GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as instant access to rich media and social networking websites. UQ Communications in Japan and Scartel LLC., in Russia are other examples of other Mondi operators preparing for commercial deployments of nationwide service using Samsung's mobile broadband WiMAX solution.
